This floral heart is typical impression of flowers; hinting at jasmine, lily, muguet and gardenia but never quite settling on anything specific, instead opting to be vaguely green and vaguely floral. That said there is a strong hint of marzipan that cloaks the flowers giving them a rather lovely gourmand coziness. Manifesto becomes warmer in the base with a sweet, creamy cocktail of vanilla and tonka bean. There are mere hints of greenery and hay that cut through the sweetness but for the most part it’s all about the vanilla. It’s difficult to feel enthusiastic about a warm, creamy base in a floral fragrance, a drier base, perhaps with rich woods sandalwood and cedar and incense and it represented as modern, daring and confident woman that Manifesto intends to evoke. The top notes are sweet and citrusy, but the elegant way in which the tart berries play up against bergamot is very pretty. The floral notes are also pretty, with the green rose harmoniously woven into the soft jasmine. This lasts but for a brief moment before Manifesto hits the caramelized sugar layer. The delicate floral accords vanish, and the dry down lingers as a nutty woody cloud of mild patchouli, toasted almonds and vanilla. Manifesto has modest tenacity when compared to most gourmand patchouli fragrances. Manifesto is not without its merits it’s an understated perfume that won’t make co-workers file demands for a “fragrance-free” environment. If like gourmand patchouli, is a more elegant and refined option, and is a playful, chic variation. Or go for which smells like chocolate and mossy roots. Feel like a sheer fruity patchouli that could easily transition from day to evening. Any Woman can wear this at anytime and anywhere and nice signature scent.
