It has a powdery, incense quality but the initial blast has a oily, orange smell and on skin through its whole life that orange never goes away. It is a orange smell like something would use to polish antique furniture with, as opposed to a candy orange or fresh orange smell. Kind of bitter and boozy, like something would drink as a digestif. There is also some faint almond and vanilla smell, as well as whiffs of cinnamon every now and then. It reminds me of something a old British librarian or museum curator would wear. It smells old but classic, and it has an exotic flair to it but isn’t off putting at all. It works best in the fall and even early spring. It projects well and last a while. Might be gentlemanly for some but it’s definitely worth a shot if like incense and sandalwood. It’s a more gourmand version of that classic masculine combination of wood and powder. Strong and refined, this oriental woody ambery fragrance opens with the contrasting energies of sparkling bergamot and basil and the freshness of lavender. The luxurious heart is composed of sophisticated rose, rich patchouli and orris, and a tobacco note. The drydown gets even more seductive with sandalwood, tonka bean, warm amber and a leather accord.
