Matiere Noire opens with sweet juicy fruity watery notes, transform towards fresh powdery florals notes, and dries down to aromatic earthy woodsy incense smoky resinous balsamic notes.

Matiere Noire is fresh fruity, juicy, florals, aquatic, aromatic earthy, woodsy, resinous, smoky, balsamic, incense, magical, powerful, strong, airy, refreshing, intoxicating, captivating, alluring, inviting, attractive, hypnotic, romantic, lovely, provocative, passionate, smooth, sensuous, luxurious, tremendous, youthful, mysterious, great, masterpiece, Feminine fragrance for Women. The opening of this fragrance has a very noticeable amount of oud and it is paired with a fruity blackcurrant note. With that, is a rose and jasmine blend, which will later become rose and cyclamen. When the floral notes really come in, the blackcurrant has faded quite a bit to my nose. The floral notes feel a bit dewy, which plays off of the smoky and woody darkness emanating from the base. Narcissus is there and the final dry down, feels fairly powdery mixed with oud. Matière Noire finally reaches to where it is patchouli, oud, smokiness, and a combination of the floral notes jasmine seems strongest. The opening of Matiere Noire is much softer than one might imagine after looking at the note listing gently powdery smelling rose and the jammy blackcurrant accord. It’s a sudden burst of Turkish rose drenched in fruit syrup. This very quickly drops back and balances itself with the other florals, as Narcissus pulls out in front and a quiet, gently smoked, suede-like oud tucks in behind the composition alongside a light benzoin that backs the whole thing up, supporting the light florals. The so called “watery notes” are subtle it’s an abstract aldehylic impression that remains barely perceptible. Within ten minutes, the Jasmine, Cyclamen and Narcissus begin to dominate the centre ground and bring an indolic dirtiness to the table. This is absolutely not a polite floral and whilst it maintains a sophisticated edge, it equally manages an enigmatic, seductive raunch below the surface. This is without doubt thanks to both this slight floral skank and the oud and patchouli that bring a darkness to the fragrance. Any Romantic Woman can wear this at anytime and anywhere.
